WESTERN ARGUS (Kalgoorlie, WA: 1916-1938) Tue 12 June 1934 Page 8

Prior to Monday’s great cycle race a dance was held in the Town Hall on the Sunday evening.  There was a very large attendance and the dancing was carried out to the strains of beautiful orchestral music which was supplied by Mr. and Mrs. Kent, of Kalgoorlie.  During the evening Mr. R. Foy, of the Rover Cycle Works, presented a trophy consisting of tubes and tyres to Mr. O Pianto for his great race in the morning.  Mr. J. Pianto, Mr. D. Sawyer and Mr. H. Sawyer were also presented with prizes.  Mr. T. Williams, of Kalgoorlie, once again took a flashlight photo of the happy throng.

Dancing was carried on until a late hour.  Mr. B. Bracegirdle carried out the duties of M.C., assisted by Mr. J. Allan. On Monday morning a large crowd gathered to farewell all the riders and visitors and to wish them all good luck.
