Passed out at Kalgoorlie hospital, on the 25th inst, a good Australian in the person of William Hilton Edwards, at the age of 48 years. He came to Albany as a lad in 1887 with his parents, the late James EDWARDS (1840-1915) and Emily EDWARDS nee HILTON (1851-1920), from Maryborough, Victoria. He was educated at Mr. R. G. Freeborough’s private school, Albany, which was situated on the Perth road. He later joined his parents, who ran the Royal Hotel, Coolgardie before he returned to Victoria and joined the Ballarat School of Mines.
On his return to Western Australia in 1900 he worked first as an assayer at Moss treatment plant, Kalgoorlie. Subsequently he was employed on the Brown Hill Consols for a number of years, and later he held a position on the Ironsides North mine. That was his last position in the mining industry.
The late Mr. Edwards then entered the hotel business. He and Mr. F. McNerney, of the Albion Hotel, Boulder, formed a partnership and together they kept the Albion Hotel from 1918 to 1925, when the partnership was dissolved. The late Mr. Edwards then managed the Boulder Block Hotel, Fimiston, for Mr. H. Fraser. About three years ago, after a short holiday, he took over the Tattersall’s Hotel, Boulder, of which he conducted to within a short time of his death. The late Mr. Edwards had been ailing for three or four months before his death from cirrhosis of the liver.

Mr. Will Edwards was a bachelor. He is survived by three sisters -Mrs. May Deykin, of Armadale; Mrs. Bessie Marchant, of Perth and Mrs Daisy Elizabeth IKE, of Albany; also two brothers, Alfred Outtrim EDWARDS and James Dean EDWARDS. Willie Edwards was a likable man and a favorite with those who had the pleasure, of his acquaintance. He was a member of the Ivanhoe Masonic Lodge and the Golden West Rose Croix, Perth

FUNERAL NOTICES (you will not the conflicting start time in the article, its hoped that this was corrected on the day)

EDWARDS – Boulder Mines Band. —Members of the above are respectfully invited to attend the funeral of our late supporter, William Hilton Edwards. The cortege will leave Messrs Greenwood and Sons Private Mortuary, Boulder, at 8 o’clock THIS DAY for the Boulder Cemetery. (No instruments please). A. Riggs, Secretary.
EDWARDS – Lodge Ivanhoe No. 879 S. C. –  Members of the above lodge and the craft in general, are respectfully invited to follow the remains, of of late member, Bro. William Hilton Edwards, to the place of interment, the Boulder Cemetery. The funeral will leave Messrs Greenwood and Son’s Private Mortuary, at 11 o’clock THIS DAY. No regalia, By order of the R.W.M
EDWARDS –  The friends of the late William Hilton Edwards, late of Tattersalls Hotel, Boulder, are respectfully informed that his remains will be removed from Messrs. Greenwood, and Son’s Private Mortuary, Burt street, Boulder, at 11 o’clock THIS DAY – (Wednesday) , for interment in the Anglican portion of the Boulder Cemetery. — Greenwood and Son, Undertakers, Boulder.
EDWARDS – The friends of Mr and Mrs. Allan Jones and family, are respectfully informed that the remains of their late esteemed friend, William Hilton Edwards, will be removed  from Messrs. Greenwood and Son’s Private Mortuary. Boulder, at 11 o’clock THIS DAY for interment in the Boulder Cemetery.
