My apologies for the lack of ‘Sunday Stories’ last week. All has now been fixed and hopefully will be working ok again. Even if it’s just a spelling mistake. I do have my good friend ‘Grammarly’ checking things as I go but I can’t rely on it completely. The most common error is the spelling of names which can be a real minefield. In these cases I always include each version, keeps everyone happy and it will then come up in a search of the site either way.
It’s been an interesting week, apart from the breakdown. I met up with Bill McQueen visiting from Hong Kong and will be sharing a most fascinating story very soon. We have been corresponding for some time and now he has just done a trip across the Nullarbor with his son and cousin. I could have talked to them for ages (well I did, but I mean for longer). So look out for his family story in the next few weeks, it’s really amazing and you may be able to help.
Another two stories which I will tell you about in full soon involve treasure being returned to a family.
1. An engraved pocket watch found out in the bush by a prospector has been returned to the family.
2. An engraved set of binoculars from WW1 is being returned to the family of the person they were given to. A story on my blog from several years ago was the way this came about.
Both of these stories have had a happy results because of people’s generosity, the website, and the power of social media (if used correctly). (:

Can you help to spread the word??? Outback Family History has a wonderful printed brochure that also includes information on the Miners Memorial. I wonder if you know of anywhere that they could be made available or if you would like to have some yourself to pass around. Just send me an address and how many you would like or where to send them to, and it shall be done. I already have them at the visitor’s centres of all the shires in our area and the Council Chambers of each as well.
