The Montgomery House 9th Nov 1909

The Montgomery Home, 245 Burt Street, Boulder .9th Nov 1909

This very prestigious home was built by the Montgomery Family who live in it for three generations. The family is well known for its drapery business on the corner of Hannan and Porter Street in Kalgoorlie.

The house is now up for sale with Kalgoorlie First National @ http://bit.ly/1brw1uj but it is a sad sight today compared to its former glory. The house at one time consisted of a viewing tower where guests of Mr Montgomery, a keen member of the racing club, would be invited to view the finishing post at the Boulder Racecourse which was opposite the house where St Josephs school is now located. The tower was removed at a later date. The house had stables at the rear and servants quarters and a large underground cellar.
