Kalgoorlie Hotel ‘Judds Pub’. Hannan Street, Kalgoorlie. This photo is not one often seen of this well-known local iconic building. Built c 1896 from ‘white stone’, it has remained a going concern ever since. It hasn’t always been called ‘Judds’, it was named as such from James (Judd) Mahony, who gave his nickname to the hotel when he and his wife Jean ran it from 1969 to 1997. Mr Mahoney was a well-known figure in the horse racing fraternity. Today it has been restored and looks much as it did in its heyday.
