Kalgoorlie Cemetery – Marshall Family Grave

Today sees the first installment of the Kalgoorlie Cemetery Records.  This first section is for burials A to D. We have transcribed up to M at this stage with still a long way to go for checking but if you name is not in this section do email me and I will look it up for you. This index had taken four years to get to this stage and a thank you for the bulk for the data entry is Val McLerie to who’s help this index wouldn’t be available, thank you so much Val from both myself and the future users of the index. I would also like to thank all the people who have helped with any of the data copying or transcribing over the years in including my dear late friend Sandy Duncan.

The data has been complied and combined from server sources such as copies of the card index of the Kalgoorlie Boulder Cemetery which were photocopied many years ago by the Goldfields Family History Soc members on behalf of WAGS (The Western Australia Genealogical  Society who in turn were assisting AGCI (Australian Genealogy Computer Index) This information was then put on the AGCI disk and available for purchase.  It holds the burials from hundreds of cemeteries all over Australia.  Unfortunately the disk is no longer available for sale.  The burial details for both Kalgoorlie, Boulder and many of our other smaller cemeteries are also listed.  The disk can be found at some libraries and at WAGS and the Battye Library in Perth. When the AGCI disk was completed the photocopied cards were then returned to the Goldfields Family History Society which sadly closed its doors 3 yrs ago.

The complete list of all the burials along with details of grave number and locations has always been available from the Kalgoorlie Boulder Cemetery office which is open every weekday.  If you do wish to locate a grave in person you will need a map from the office as the grave do not run in numerical orders.  If you are only available at weekends when the office is closed you can contact them for assistance.  This list in no way replaces the excellent service offered by the Cemetery Board but is an additional search tool for those who aren’t able to visit in person.

To add to the information gained from the index card copies and the AGCI disk we have added a lot of extra information from the Registrar General site at:  http://bit.ly/1eG3Wju ,deaths in WA are available as a free search from: 1841-1971.  In addition to these sources we have added in information from family members and from the TROVE  website http://bit.ly/1vywLTs (Gosh I just love Trove)  have a look at my tips on getting the best from this amazing site   http://bit.ly/1ps20iz

NOTE:

1.This list is by no means complete, the more recent burials from about 1990 to the present are not included with the exception of a number added by family members.
2. Many of the graves of Aboriginal people are only identified by a first name and this is usually their ‘known name’ and not their tribal name. I would like any families of these people to get in touch with me to correct any of these entries.
3. There are many burials which have people who’s name was not known, these entries have not been included.
4. As with all information on this site I welcome and corrections, additions and alterations that may arise.
5. Should any family members not wish to have their family members details listed I will be happy to remove them from the list.
