Honour Board Boorara/ Waterfall/Golden Ridge – where is it now?

Taken in 1961

Honour Board Boorara/Waterfall/Golden Ridge

As this is the Centenary of the beginning of WW1 I wonder if anyone knows the location of this honour board. The photo was taken in 1961 at a ceremony to unveil an obelisk at Boorara/Waterfall/Golden Ridge. The honour board, which looks like it was brought out for the ceremony, show the names of the men from this town who served. As you will see the event was organised by the Eastern Goldfields Historical Soc so perhaps it is in their collection or maybe the War Museum. Any ideas?

This photograph show the crown at the ceremony, note the flag pole possibly erected for the day!  The obelisk was placed on Lot No: 1 Golden Ridge on the 3rd September 1961 in the presence of past resident and decendants of the people of the town, members of the historical society and councillors.  Three trees were also planted as part of the ceremony by the children of the South Kalgoorlie Primary School. The town of Boorara was there from 1895 to 1907. In 1901 gold was found 3 and a half miles south of the Boorara townsite and the place was called Waterfall. The name is supposed to have come from a story that a waterbag hung in a tree spilled out and revealed a rich gold bearing quartz reef. It wasnt until 1950 that the story was proved to be a ‘tall tale’ and the ‘Golden Ridge’ of gold was found by hard work by a team of prospectors.  The names of Waterfall and Golden Ridge were both used often until the postal service made ‘Golden Ridge’ the official name in 1912.
