COOLGARDIE CEMETERY UPDATE
I’d like to share an update on my ongoing project to expand the biographies of those buried in the Coolgardie Cemetery. I recently realised that it is almost exactly a year since I began this enormous undertaking, and I’m pleased to say that I have now completed the biographies for burials from January 1896 through to the end of December 1898.
At this stage, the updates do not yet include newspaper articles, headstone photographs, or photographs of the people themselves. These will be added as the project progresses.
The current number of burials to date is – 3128

Hi Moya, I note your work on the Coolgardie Cemetery and wonder if you have done the same for the Kalgoorlie Boulder Cemtery? My husband’s gt grandfather was buried there in 1917 following his death aged 58 at the Government Hospital. We know v little about him although I have located various newspaper articles mentioning him as a cook, news vendor, train porter, billiard marker and “sheik of the shine” at the Victoria Hotel in Kalgoorlie – a shoe shine man. He left his family in Melbourne in 1898 and never returned. His name was Nathaniel Charles Kinsman, sometimes known as Charles Kinsman.
We will be in Kalgoorlie next week to visit his grave and the archives but I wonder if you have anything in your records that refers to NC Kinsman. With thanks

Hi Jane I’m afraid that it would be too big a job to tackle the bios for Kalgoorlie Cemetery with over 28,000 graves. Look forwood to reading this each week I am hoping you could find something on John cliffod dugga and wife Dianna Davis their sons John Charles b mt.magnet and David b wa both die cue 2o22 and 2008. Dianne was an aborigine born in Wiluna her parents Minnie Davis and father muniwanga davey. Nor sure if newspapers in wa have info on line for + 1960.hope you could give me somewhere t e I could find info
Hi Suzanne Most of the online newspapers would not yet have gone up mto 1960+ as yet but theuy will eventually. To start with I would get a copy of John Clifford Dugga’s death certificate which should help.
Thanks for your offer Moya. I am writing his bio – as much as we know – so will forward to you when it is as complete as I can make it. I gather you have Kalgoorlie Hospitals records copied and that Nathaniel Charles Kinsman appears in these although I understood he died in the Government Hospital in 1917. You describe the exact file as Hospitals > Kalgoorlie Hospital File 37-38 Jan 1916-Aug 1918. I wonder if it is possible for me to access the full file? Thanks. Jane
