A very pretty wedding at Bulong – family album

The following story was sent in by Eric Chamberlain from his family album.

When Sarah KEOGH was born on 16 November 1879 in Victoria, her father, Cornelius, was 32, and her mother, Mary, was 22. She married Henry COADY in 1905 in Bulong, Western Australia. They had seven children in 11 years. She died on 1 August 1967 in Heidelberg, Victoria, at the age of 87.

COADY—KEOGH. —At St. Patrick’s, Bulong, Wednesday, January 18th 1905, by the Rev. Father Brennan, Henry, fourth son of the late Edward Coady, of Ballarat, Victoria, to Sarah, eldest daughter of the late Cornelius Keogh, of Maldon, Victoria.

Wedding. On Wednesday, 18th inst, a very pretty wedding took place, the contracting parties being Miss Sarah Keogh (daughter of the late Cornelius Keogh of Maldon, Victoria, and Mrs Quigley of this town, and Mr. H. Coady, a very old resident of Bulong and deservedly popular. The ceremony was performed bv the Rev. Father Brennan, of Boulder, and the wedding presents which were numerous, showed the esteem in which the happy couple were held by their many friends.
The bridesmaids were Miss Molly Coen and Miss Annie Quigley, step-sister of the bride. Mr. P. Gallivan filled the role of best man, and the bride was given  away by her brother, Mr. Tim Keogh. After the ceremony a large number of friends assembled at the house of Cr.and Mrs. Quigley, where a very lavish breakfast was done ample justice to. The toast of “The Bride and the Bridegroom” was proposed by Father Brennan, and the bridegroom responded in a very modest manner. Mr. P. Gallivan proposed “The Bridesmaids,” which was responded to by Cr.John Coen, and the health of the “Bride’s mother” was proposed by Mr.P. donnelly, and responded to by Mr. Tim Keogh. Later on in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Coady left for the coast to spend their honeymoon.

QUIGLEY.-On the 15th November 1935 , at her daughter’s residence  (Mrs. H. Coady) 24 Rockbrook road, East St. Kilda, Mary Ann, beloved wife of the late John Quigley, Kalgoorlie (W.A.), loving mother of Sarah Mrs. Coady, (Victoria), James Keogh (East Fremantle), Tim (S y d n e y), Doodie (Maldon), Con (Kalgoorlie), William (deceased), Thomas Quigley (Wyndham), Mary (Mrs. Partridge, Perenjori), Annie  (Mrs. Moriarty, W.A.), and Jack  (Hawthorn, Vic.). Aged 78 years. R.I.P.Her husband Henry passed away on 28 June 1953 in Elwood, Victoria, at the age of 85. They had been married 48 years.
