The official reopening of the Goldfields War Museum will take place on Saturday 9 March 2019.
We will be asking people to assemble outside the old war museum building on
Burt Street at 2.00pm and at 2.30pm
we will commence a short march along the footpath to the Boulder Town Hall. The Mayor will then preside over a short ceremony inside the hall, followed by afternoon tea and the museum will be open for viewing.
The RSL’s, the Goldfields Brass Band and local scout groups will be attending. Everyone is welcome to come along. The new Museum is well worth seeing.
Goldfields War Museum
The Goldfields War Museum was established in 1979 to showcase the Goldfields community contribution to conflicts in which Australia has been involved, and was realised through the vision, drive and dedication of local resident Ross Rogers and his family. In April 2010, the museum was devastated by a 5.0 magnitude earthquake, the highest ever recorded in the area. The Goldfields War Museum relocated to the Kalgoorlie Town Hall with a long term commitment from the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder to redevelop the museum and return it to Boulder.
On 7 January 2019, the museum was reopened in the Boulder Town Hall. Walk through the exhibition and discover the significant involvement residents of the town made during the Boer War, World Wars I and II, through to the 21stCentury. Examine photographs, documents and original artefacts to gain an in-depth understanding of the wars and how it impacted on those enlisted and on the home-front.
Housing a vast collection of war memorabilia from citizens of the Goldfields, you can explore the personal stories of these brave servicemen and women. A visit to the Goldfields War Museum will be an enriching experience for anyone with an interest in Australia’s history and warfare.
The Goldfields War Museum is open Monday to Friday from 10:00am to 4:00pm (excluding public holidays), and on Boulder Market Days (third Sunday of each month) from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Entry by donation. For more information, contact (08) 9021 9817 or mailbag@ckb.wa.gov.au.

I found an image of my maternal grandfather Pte. CRAIG A.R. in that museum in 1993. Shortly after I spoke with Ross Rogers in his chemist shop in Kal. Since then I donated an original image of CRAIG with wife Myrtle and daughter Noray to the AWM.
