Still Here — Just Recovering!

24/11/2025 By Moya Sharp 38 Comments

As Mark Twain so famously said, “Reports of my death have been greatly exaggerated!”

I had quite a shock yesterday when a lovely lady I correspond with regularly sent a message saying she had heard that I had passed away. As you can see, this is not the case.

On the 3rd of November I became very unwell, very quickly, and ended up needing major emergency surgery. I’ve only just come home from the hospital and now attend daily as an outpatient. Recovery will take some time, but all is on track and I’m being well looked after.

I should have put up a note sooner to explain my sudden silence and the lack of my usual stories and posts. Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

I hope you can bear with me a little longer—once my brain catches up with my recovery, I’ll be back to the websites and sharing more Goldfields tales again.

Gosh Moya that was an awful shock for you. I hope you’re recovering well. I have always been amazed that you produce an email each week. It’s a lot of work that you put into this weekly group of stories.

Take your time. We will just have to be patient. Please only return if and when you are up to it.

    Take care

Commiserations, Moya. BTDT earlier this year myself, and having one’s apple-cart upended suddenly and drastically is no fun, and it takes a while to re-adjust. Hope your recovery proceeds as required and expected, and you return to where you’d like to be without too much time and hassle. All the best!

    Hi Moya,
I certainly hope your recovery is going well and you will be back to you to doing what you enjoy. I had noticed there hasn’t been any post but thought you may have been having a holiday. I received one of those phone calls when a lady rang me and said your alive (name) told me she had red your death notice in the paper. with love and wishing you the best.

Glad you are in the road to recovery. You can not rush the healing qualities of time, so hopefully the new year will see you back to your usual self. Miss your posts , especially as I live O/seas, but am glad you will be back with us when the time is right. Your efforts to correlate & record this aspect of WA’s history is invaluable.

Hi Moya, Hope you are on the mend and are feeling better.
When you are back on deck, there are two typos in “The History of the Goldfields Cycle Express”. Two dates 1984 should be 1894.
    All the best,
