Ripping Yarns & Tragic Tales – 29th August 2021

Hi Everyone, How has your week been?

I finally got around to having my COVID vaccination this week which left me feeling very ill for a day or so which quite surprised me as I don’t usually have any reactions. It’s not like I’m really at risk being in Kalgoorlie and not going out much, but I do visit my elderly mother in law so thought it best to be on the safe side. That’s enough COVID news as I’m sure you have all had quite enough of it.

While laid up I tried to use my time productively and attempted to catch up on outstanding email inquiries. You will be surprised to know (well maybe not if you are waiting for a reply) that I’m now officially up to the 30th of June. As I always reply to emails in strict date order, unless the reply is short can be sent straight away, I’m now officially only 7 weeks behind which may to you sound a lot, but it has been worse believe me.

The only time that my ‘date order’ method falls down is when people email to say that they will be coming to the Goldfields and want some details before they arrive. I then usually read the email after they have been and gone, so that’s a bit awkward. Apart from these sorts of inquiries, it really doesn’t matter if things take a little longer. The people and places arent going anywhere. I do however promise to reply to everyone. Just occasionally I do miss one as we now have: 3 x emails, messages from the blog for all three websites, Facebook Messenger for the two pages, Community posts, and queries in the Facebook comments which I always read. Thankfully I have a volunteer who helps me a lot and who makes my workload so much easier, Thanks John, you know who I mean!

I have also been doing some of my personal Family History stuff by transferring my ‘Family Tree Maker program to my new laptop and syncing it to Ancestry.com. It took a while. So all done and checked off the to-do list which is still on one A4 page which is good.

I hope you enjoy reading this week’s stories as much as I have in putting them together.

Bye for now and take care
