These two photographs we recently sent to me by the Kenevan Collection of photos from the Heyfield & District Museum in Victoria. I have not been able to find an exact date but found advertisements in the Kalgoorlie Miner Newspaper for ‘qualified wood choppers’ for the Claytons Condenser from 1899 to 1901. It appears that the Condenser was located near the Golden Gate Railway Station

Hi Pam The only hotel I can think of of this name would be the Lady Shenton but this is in Menzies so cant be. What are your Gt Grandparents names and about when were they here, I may be able to find out more for you? (:
so sorry, it was menzies, their name was carl and christina schultz, and it would have been the late 1880s or even 1890s would apprecite any information you may have pam
Hi Pam Just did a quick search in the WA POst Office Directories for 1900 and 1897 with no luck so far. If you haven’t already looked: http://www.slwa.wa.gov.au/find/wa_resources/post_office_directories
You can search year by year under the name in the alphabetical section and then under the trade section under ‘Hotels’, you can search the name of the hotel here and it will show you the licensee. I couldn’t see a listing for the Lady Shenton in 1900. The building has now been compleatly restored and is now the visitors center and a community tele centre as well. Do let me know how you go!
Thank you Moya for your dedication in researching the goldfields. You where of great help when I was seeking information about the William Smith Bennit. He was involved with Hotels, Racing, Gold and Boxing (aka Bull Bennit). Discovered his brothers Andy, Harry and Steve all spent time with him at stages . Harry also did some boxing. A sister Kate ( Mrs Charles Norris) moved to WA too. So it would seem, the goldfields attracted all sorts.
Continue success with you work. Susan. NSW.
