Joseph was a well known man about town and was the licencee of the Boulder City Hotel up to his death in 1907 when the licence was taken over by his wife Rebecca.
Western Argus 7th May 1907 – The Late Joseph Salinger. – A ceremony of a mournful nature took place yesterday at the Hebrew portion of the Kalgoorlie Cemetery-the consecration of a tombstone erected to the memory of the late Joseph Salinger. There was a large attendance of the friends of the family,both of the Jewish and Christian persuansions. Mr. E. Cohen officiated, and in the course of a short address founded on the Fifth Comanandment, said that although many similar ceremonies should have preccded this, parents of the Jewish faith had previously reglected to teach their children to honor them in death as well as in their lives by erecting monuments to their memories, and he trusted that this, the
