John Helge Martin Johannesen . He was born ion the 7th Dec 1866 in Frue Sogn, Aarhus, Denmark. He was the son of Carl Emil JOHANNESEN (1852-1953) and Sofie nee SVENSDATTER and was the oldest of 10 children to the couple. He died at the Coolgardie Government Hospital on the 12th October 1912 from Pulmonary Tuberculous. His occupation was given as a carpenter and he was single. He had been in Australia for six years prior to his death. He arrived on the 8th November 1906 in Fremantle WA onboard the ship the Ophir. He embarked Bremen, Germany and travelled to Australia alone at the age of 19yrs. The only witness to his burial apart from the undertaker was J Mazzuchelli.
Johannes Helge Martin Johannesen – Johannes changed his name to ‘John Johanns’. He traveled from Denmark Europe to make a new life in Australia, first working in the South West timber Mills from 1906 before moving to Coolgardie. Two of Johannes younger brothers also travelled to Western Australia – Svend Antonius Johannesen arrived in 1910 and died in Pemberton WA in 1955- Alexander Johannesen died in Perth WA in 1976. Its not know if the brothers reunited before Johannes death.
