Home Made Adventures by Stan Gratte

Stan Gratte (OAM) has just released a book called “Homemade Adventures – My Expeditions, In the West Australian Bush and Desert”.

Extracted from the foreword:

I’ve been asked many times by family, friends and people who travel our outback, to write about my expeditions, particularly in the desert.  I kept a diary or field notebook, and I’ve used these to accurately record my journeys in a manner that my reader can trace on a map and, in most cases, visit the exact places.

I was lucky; first to have a four-wheel drive vehicle when there weren’t many about. Second, it was a time when the outback was open to all. A time when station people welcomed you as visitors were few. Thirdly, and above all, the Aboriginal people in civilisation were keen to contact those few of their people who were ‘still out there’.  I found my niche and exploring the desert became a part of my life.

This book is a great read and would be of interest to anyone who loves the bush, is interested in history, travels the Canning stock route or to modern-day adventurers. Perhaps that ideal gift for someone.

Good afternoone Moya, Stan Gratte rang me yesterday following my earlier email to you last Christmas. We had a long conversation about the expedition to find Warri and Yatungka and he mentioned that he has recently published a book about his various expeditions in the WA bush.

I would like to purchase a copy and I believe that this is the way to go about it.

Please let me know the cost and method of payment.

    Your sincerely
