Dear Readers
You will be receiving this email on the first day of 2023. I would like to wish you all a very happy (or happier) New Year. For many of us, this has been another tough year with COVID causing distress for many both from illness and other sources. I hope that your families have not been directly affected and if they have, that they are on the road to recovery. However, just about everyone has a ‘COVID’ story about what it has meant to them and their loved ones. Let us hope that 2023 will be a year to bring back some semblance of normality.
I’m so glad that during the last two years I have had my history research and stories to occupy me. It’s so easy to disappear down the rabbit hole of research and to leave behind the ‘every day’. I’m probably guilty of doing just this
‘a lot’. I also read a great deal but don’t listen to music (well only classical) or watch TV, and I rely on my husband to pass on the news of the day to me as he is an avid news watcher. It is a bit of a ‘head in the sand’ attitude of mine I know, but I feel that my knowing what is happening in the world and being upset by it won’t make one iota of difference.
I shall be quite content to know my children are out in the world and making their way. As long as I have my house, books, garden, animals and my history work that is all I need. As the saying goes
“If you have a garden and a library, you have everything you need”.
I hope that you continue to enjoy the weekly missives as much as I do collecting them together. I’m always interested in hearing your stories should you wish to share them with other readers. I would love to hear from you @ moyasharp@outbackfamilyhistory.com.au
