Going Going Gone in 1972

07/12/2019 By Moya Sharp 1 Comment

In 1972 we lost two great Goldfields Hotels. The Oriental Hotel, in Hannan Street Kalgoorlie and the Shamrock on the corner of Lane and Piesse Streets in Boulder.

The demolition of the Oriental Hotel, which was owned by the Swan Brewery at the time, took place under cover of darkness and before protesters could arrive that day in July of 1972.
