First Draft of Coolgardie Cemetery Records Completed –

First Draft of Coolgardie Cemetery Records Completed –
I’m pleased to share that, with the assistance of volunteers for the pre-1896 deaths, I have completed the first draft of a comprehensive review of the burial records for Coolgardie Cemetery from 1894 – the present. This project, nearly two years in the making, marks a significant milestone in preserving the history of the Goldfields.

This draft includes, where possible, the following details for each individual:
• Full Name
• Date of Death
• Age
• Occupation
• Denomination and Cemetery Plot Number
Many entries go beyond these basics, offering richer insights into the lives of those buried. The draft is now available on the Outback Family History website, though photographs of memorials, individuals, and newspaper articles will be incorporated in the final phase.
I will continue to add to these records with additional information from death certificates, burial records, and newspapers, which I will process offline due to their non-alphabetical order. Progress will be periodically uploaded to the website. While I’m not seeking additional information at this stage, I will reach out for contributions later and will keep you informed of updates.
Undertaking detailed ‘mini biographies’ for a cemetery of this size—currently 3,132 burials—is not what I would normally do, but Coolgardie’s unique role as the “Mother of the Goldfields” and its significance as both the starting point and final resting place for so many makes this effort vital to the region’s history.

Leave a Tip!

If you would like to support my work sharing stories of the Western Australian Goldfields, a small tip – starting at just $2 – would mean a great deal. You're welcome to give more if you feel inclined.

Every contribution, no matter the amount, helps me continue researching and preserving these important stories for future generations. Your generosity supports the ongoing costs of running the website. Thank you so much.
