After her arrival in Kalgoorlie Emma had three more children. Patricia born 1917 and Twins born 18 Feb 1919 – Donald Farrow who died 26 Jun 1919 in Perth WA & Raymond George who died 19 Jun 1919 in Perth WA  (Both boys buried together in the Presbyterian Section in Karrakatta Cemetery, Perth).

Three years after Emma arrived in Kalgoorlie and four babies later she was dead at only 34 years old, she died on the 28th Mar 1919. Her death possibly was pregnancy-related, as she died not long after her twin boys were born.

I have managed to find an entry for Emma in the admission records of the Kalgoorlie Hospital. However, this doesn’t confirm her cause of death. It states as follows:  Emma Emilie URQUHART – Address Husband Railway Cottage, Wittenoom St, Kalgoorlie – Locomotive Hotel will take a message  – Age 34yrs – Married- Home Duties – Admitted 28 Mar 1919 at 4pm – Died at 4:55pm – no mention of the cause of death.

Ernest was to remarry to Annie Kathleen OSBORNE in Perth in 1921, he had no further children. Ernest lived to the age of 83yrs and was cremated at Karrakatta Cemetery.

Emma was my Great Grandmother, her daughter Gladys being my grandmother. Ernest also lost his brother William John Farrow Urquhart (a boundary rider on the rabbit proof fence) in the August of the same year. Outback graves kindly placed a memorial plaque on William’s grave last year.

Emma was my grandmother. My mother was her daughter Sylvia Veronica Urquhart born in 1913. Thank you for your interesting details and photos. My sister Dorothy has some original photos.

Hi Marjorie Thanks for getting in touch. My huisband and I tried to find the spot were the little house was located but it seems to have been removed when a new road bridge was built.

Hi, we have no knowledge regarding location of said house. Regarding cause of death, the family were told Emma died of pneumonia but on her death certificate it listed nephritis, kidney failure. We believe her mother suffered from same complaint. Our mother said her grandmother had dropsy, another name for kidney problem. This information is to the best of my knowledge.
