The good news is that a history book of Laverton and the surrounding towns is to be published. Lots of people will be contributing to the book, which is going to be really great. Laverton area history. The Laverton Shire with Hesperian Press and volunteer historians is preparing a sourcebook history covering all aspects of the area.
Information on almost everything, pastoral, mining, people, incidents, outback settlements, and photographs, etc is requested from the interested public.

The Kalgoorlie Kennedy family lived in Laverton in 1955, Bill Kennedy ( my father ) and my older brother Kevin worked at Lancefield mine, myself & 3 brothers attend the local school, like most other families, our homes were tin & hessian constructions, no running water, or power, unstable outhouse?
It was a great bush town & very close community, the Kennedy boys & other Aboriginal kids learnt some of our bush craft as walk- about nomads on week-ends, yet never lost or injured.
My mum ( Maudie) did a great job to manage the household & so little facilities, waiting for the train & food etc to arrive, yet the pub was in full flight, it was definitely the hub of the town!!
Laverton played a big part in our early development as kids & as a family, in mining, sport & community living!
The isolated town was never boring for us kids, we loved it & enjoyed every day of our time in there;
