The Cable Family – book review

06/11/2016 By Moya Sharp 5 Comments

I was recently kindly sent a copy of the book written by Terry Mann on the family history of the Cable family of Western Australia. I am sure that lots of you would have heard of the name before. Terry is to be commended on the thorough research she has conducted into this very detailed family story which has taken over 40 years from the start of her research to this very impressive book. It is indeed a family story and not just the history of dates and events as is sometimes seen but a true story of the life and the times that this family lived through both in WA and also in Scotland, England and the USA. Terry has also travelled widely to further her research and to gather information from many diverse sources.

    Hello Moya.

Do you know whether this book is available anywhere for purchase?

I would be very interested in obtaining a copy, and have never been aware of the book’s existence until seeing this review on your site.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank You.

    Regards… Rosie (Cable).

        Hello Moya

Thank you so much for getting back to me about my enquiry.

You are so very kind to make such a wonderful offer.

        My postal address is:

        Rosie Cable
        PO Box 1127
        East Victoria Park. WA. 6981.

I was speaking with my brother Stephen last night, and mentioned this book to him. He too was completely unaware of its existence. Like me, I know he will be very interested in reading this book, and learning more about our family history.

I am extremely appreciative of your kindness.

        Thanking you again.

        Sincerely
        Rosie

In regards to Terry Mann’s book I’m afraid I no longer have a valid contact for him, However there is a copy in the State library which you should be able to request. Here are the full details in Google books. https://books.google.com.au/books/about/The_Cable_Family.html?id=0BK8oQEACAAJ&source=kp_book_description&redir_esc=y
