On the 7th October 1916, there occurred the death of Anastasia (Annie) Mary WILLIAMS of 3 Bourke Street, Kalgoorlie. She was age 42yrs and was born in Killkenny Ireland in 1864. Her husband was Abraham Williams and she had five children, James, Dannie, Gordon, Cassie and May (May married Mr E Morgan EVANS of Gwalia in 1914 in Kalgoorlie). Her two sons served in the AIF, WW1, James U WILLIAMS, was killed in action and  Dannie (28th Battalion) returned to Australia. James, 12th Battalion AIF, died of wounds he received at Pozieres on the 19 Sep 1916, three weeks before the death of his mother. Abraham (Abe) dies aged 62yrs at the home of his son Gordon on the 29 June 1930 and is buried in Karrakatta Cemetery Perth.

This beautiful memorial in the Kalgoorlie Cemetery was erected for her and James was also memorialised on the inscription.
