A Heartfelt Farewell to My Beloved Honey

09/08/2025 By Moya Sharp 18 Comments

Dear Readers,

This week, my heart is heavy as I share the devastating loss of my cherished Corgi. After enduring a severe illness, undergoing major surgeries, and bravely battling through a regimen of medications, she was finally beginning to reclaim her joyful spirit. Her wagging tail and bright eyes were a testament to her resilience.

Tragically, our happiness was cut short when she wandered onto the patio and fell into our pool. Despite their spirited nature, Corgis struggle to swim due to their short legs. My husband and I fought desperately to revive her, but our efforts were in vain. She slipped away, leaving an unfillable void in our home. Now, only our Pomeranian remains, as my daughter’s dog, whom we cared for over the past two years, recently moved to London.

To some, she may have been “just a dog,” but to me, she was a constant, gentle companion, faithfully by my side through my quiet days at home. Her absence leaves an ache that words cannot fully express.

In light of this loss, my mind is clouded with grief, and I find myself unable to craft new stories this week. Instead, I’ll be sharing four reposts. I deeply appreciate your understanding and support during this difficult time.

With gratitude
Moya

Dearest Moya, I truly understand the loss you are feeling, when you adopt an animal, which ever one you have chosen, they become part of your family, there is a special place in your heart just for them.
The life your fur baby had with you has left many amazing memories that in time will bring a smile to your face when you least expect it.
Your other fur baby will need you even more now, it will feel sad and grieve for the loss of it’s companion.
    Yours in friendship Lenora

Your grief is palpable and entirely understandable- sending warm condolences. We’ve just been through similar, losing our beloved pussycat cat Agnes after 17.5 years. The most darling soul, just like your Honey. They give us so much and ask so little. They are irreplaceable. Thank you for sharing Honey’s story. She is indeed a big part ot your outback family history.
