<p style="text-align: center;">THE MAID FROM MULLINGAR<br />
From The Sun, 16 July 1905</p>
<p><a href="https://www.outbackfamilyhistoryblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Belinda-225x300-1.jpg"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" class="size-medium wp-image-8819 aligncenter" src="https://www.outbackfamilyhistoryblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/Belinda-225x300-1-225x300.jpg" alt="" width="225" height="300" /></a></p>
<p style="text-align: center;">She was a maiden from Melbourne,<br />
Modest and bashful in style,<br />
a neat little jigger, with a capital figure<br />
and such a sweet Sunday School smile.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">In service she worked as a housemaid<br />
and turned out a regular star,<br />
for when she went out, they boys they would shout,<br />
Ho! The Maid from Mullingar.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">He was an ancient Lothario,<br />
prop of the church, but aside.<br />
With a stake in the Rue and in Hannan street too,<br />
And terraces on t&#8217;otherside.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">His wife she was living in Melbourne,<br />
where the four little Laslett&#8217;s are<br />
all was well till he met the dear pet<br />
The maid from Mullingar</p>
</div>
<div class="zone">
<p style="text-align: center;">Her smile it captivated him,<br />
her ankle turned his head,<br />
as he embraced her slender waist;<br />
Ho! fly with me,&#8221; he said,</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Ho! come with me to London town.<br />
With laughs at bolt, and bar<br />
So come with me across the sea<br />
Sweet maid of Mullingar</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">And now Kalgoorlie damsels,<br />
are weeping at the fall,<br />
and of her whose slip, had won a trip<br />
And stole a march on all.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">And now Kalgoorlie Johnnies,<br />
curse loud at every bar,<br />
The pious joint who scored a point<br />
and the maid from Mullingar.</p>
<p style="text-align: center;">Note: Mullingar is a suburb of Kalgoorlie</p>
