Western Argus 7th May 1907 – The Late Joseph Salinger. – A ceremony of a mournful nature took place yesterday at the Hebrew portion of the Kalgoorlie Cemetery – the consecration of a tombstone erected to the memory of the late Joseph Salinger. There was a large attendance of the friends of the family both of the Jewish and Christian persuasions. Mr. E. Cohen officiated, and in the course of a short address founded on the Fifth Commandment, said that although many similar ceremonies should have preceded this, parents of the Jewish faith had previously neglected to teach their children to honor them in death as well as in their lives by erecting monuments to their memories, and he trusted that this, the first, would be the means of making many others follow the good example of the Salinger family.
