										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<img width="150" height="150" src="https://www.outbackfamilyhistoryblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/08/1_299006722e285f47655d17d1c9136337-150x150.jpg" class="attachment-thumbnail size-thumbnail wp-post-image" alt="" decoding="async" loading="lazy" /><p>While staying with my daughter recently who lives in East Perth we had the occasion to visit the East Perth Cemetery on Cemetery Hill which I had always wanted to see but as it is only open on Sunday afternoon between 2-4 I have not had the chance to before.  This old cemetery which operated from 1829 up and was the principal burial ground for the Perth area to 1899 and it is widely acknowledged that there are over 10,000 burials within the grounds of the East Perth Cemetery. There were no burial registers kept by either the Church Wardens or the caretakers of the Cemeteries. This led to researchers having to spend many hours compiling various histories and datasets on the East Perth Cemetery. <p>I noticed from reading the headstones that there were several graves of Coolgardie People so I photographed these. Not till returning home and searching the East Perth Cemetery web page I found other mentions of those either born in or were residents of Coolgardie and these I have listed below. A number, as to be expected, are infants but other adults include the infamous Father Long of the &#8216;Father Long Hoax&#8217; at Kanowna.</p>

<p><strong>VON ZALINSKI John Max</strong> Aged 6mths, Born Coolgardie Father Paul VON ZALINSKI Mother:- Lavinnia Harriet nee HUDSON DOD 29 Aug 1898.</p>
<p><strong>FAAHAN Mary Emma</strong> Aged 28yrs, wife of William Michael Faahan of the Club Hotel, Coolgardie; died 11/04/1942 Coolgardie DOD: 1st Jul 1895. William was to remarry the following year to Cecelia Knighton and they had a daughter, Marguerite, born in Coolgardie in 1904. Cecilia was to die herself in 1913 and William was to stay in Coolgardie and he died and was buried there in 1942.</p>
